Odoo

Odoo is a very complete ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) application that allows the management of contacts, invoices, inventory, orders and payments. It is suitable for e-commerce, accounting, point of sale, project management, among many other features.

Odoo is no longer available for installation

Odoo is no longer part of the applications that can be installed from the MaadiX Control Panel.

The reason is that Odoo does not offer an update system that can be reliably automated on a self-hosted server. To upgrade an installation to a newer version, Odoo itself requires you to send the database to its servers or use its cloud platform Odoo.sh.

There is a community-maintained open source alternative, the OpenUpgrade project by the OCA (Odoo Community Association). However, according to its own documentation, the process requires several manual reviews and does not guarantee a correct result in every case.

Since there is no reliable way to offer an automated update, we have decided to remove Odoo from the applications available to install from the Control Panel.

If you already have Odoo installed

If you already had an Odoo installation on your MaadiX server, it will continue to work normally. Keep in mind, however, that over time it may stop working correctly, as the rest of the server’s components (such as Python) get updated and Odoo may become incompatible with the most recent versions.

If you need to upgrade your installation to a newer version of Odoo, you will have to do it manually, following the official Odoo procedure or the OCA’s OpenUpgrade project mentioned above.

Alternative: Dolibarr

As an alternative, in MaadiX you can install Dolibarr, another open source application that offers ERP and CRM features, aimed at small and medium-sized businesses or associations, which can indeed be installed and updated in an automated way from the Control Panel.
